Public Relations Account Manager
Working closely with assigned Account Directors, the Public Relations Manager is responsible for developing and implementing effective communication and media relations strategies for VoX tourism and hospitality clients. A key responsibility is working directly with traditional and non-traditional media outlets as well as influencers to generate positive publicity and build social media presence in Canada for client accounts.
Research, write and distribute press releases, newsletters and other communications vehicles.
Pitch, plan and co-ordinate press trips (individual and group fams), live remotes, blogger events, media marketplaces, media and sales missions and other promotional events.
Conduct proactive media outreach to identify editorial opportunities, research and pitch potential story ideas and follow up to secure placements.
Co-ordinate all requirements for client consumer and media promotions including development of themed prize trips, oversee execution and produce wrap-up reports.
Evaluate opportunities for potential partnerships and sponsorship’s on an ongoing basis.
Manage program budgets for assigned accounts and maintain accurate, timely accounting practices.
Monitor, analyze and communicate public relations results.
Monitor media coverage/placements, complete required client ROI reports and calculate PR value of client articles
Handle media and client related requests in a timely and professional manner.
Collaborate with Account Directors to align activities and bring PR expertise, recommendations and support to their client’s initiatives.
Keep up to date on the different client destinations, media landscape and contacts, as well as social media and online opportunities.
Monitor and assess market news and top stories, including trends in the hospitality and tourism industry and competitor activity.
Assist with maintaining agency media lists and develop customized lists for specific projects when required.
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of the Canadian travel industry as well as travel trade and consumer media
Degree in Communications and or Public Relations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (French, Spanish an asset)
Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
Advanced knowledge of MS Office programs
Proficiency in PR monitoring tools
